Clayton's Crab Company was founded in 1967 by Clayton Korecky, Jr. At the time, Clayton was a local fisherman in the Space Coast who found himself catching more blue crabs than he could sell, leading him to open a wholesale seafood business. In 1970, the retail market opened, and since then, it has grown to become the largest seafood market in Brevard County, Florida.

In 2013, Clayton's Crab Company changed ownership when Clayton Korecky sold the business to Jan and Brian Walker. Jan worked under Clayton over the course of thirty years, while Brian joined the company in 2009. Jan and Brian have continued the tradition of fresh seafood that Clayton originally started.
